GEFCO’s success at Industry awards

25th January 2010 – Leading transport and logistics provider GEFCO UK has been recognised by the British International Freight Association (BIFA) as the ‘Best in Industry’ in the European Logistics category at the Freight Service Awards. Held in London last week, the awards are a measure of performance within the logistics and supply chain industry.

GEFCO UK’s submission was based on a study carried out by the organisation, which examined service levels provided in the 2Wheeler motorcycle industry. GEFCO concentrated on a gap in the market between cost control consolidation and enhanced customer care. This enabled them to put forward an innovative and unique logistics proposition to both existing and future clients in this sector.

The judging panel was impressed by GEFCO UK’s ambitious plans to expand their 2Wheeler development project into a large number of new European markets. Its niche logistics solution has been optimised to offer customers a highly effective and personalised service, together with a shared user operation that delivers both competitiveness and significant cost efficiencies.

Commenting on the award win, Chris Arnold, GEFCO Network Logistics Director said: “We are delighted to have been recognised by BIFA with this prestigious award. We have proven expertise in the 2Wheeler sector, and it is great to see recognition of the solutions that we offer our clients by way of an industry accreditation. We are looking to build on this success achieved within 2009, to further develop our client relationships within 2010.”
