Landmarks

The GEFCO group is a subsidiary of the PSA Peugeot Citroën group.
Founded in 1949 following the first link-up between Sochaux and Paris, GEFCO expanded fast in France, and then in Western Europe in the 1980s.
Since the end
of the 1990s, GEFCO has expanded internationally in Central and Eastern Europe, South America, North Africa and Asia.
At the end of 1998, GEFCO had 8 subsidiaries. The group now has 26.

 

Milestones

  • 1949  Creation of the plc "Les Groupages Express de Franche-Comté"

  • 1955 – 1977  Development of GEFCO in France and Benelux: Acquisition of Fourgon Dauphinois (1969), Transports Vandecasteele, and Soler Seguin (1977)

  • 1978 – 1998  Expansion of GEFCO in Western Europe: United Kingdom, Switzerland (1981), Portugal (1982), Spain (1986), Italy (1988)

  • 1999-2008  Internationalisation of GEFCO

  • 2009  60 years GEFCO

Continuing internationalisation

Since the 1990s, GEFCO has pursued its international strategy by opening subsidiaries all around the world.

  • Central and Eastern Europe: Germany, Poland (1999), Turkey (2002), Czech Republic, Russia (2003), Austria, Slovakia (2004), Hungary, Romania (2005), Slovenia (2007), Ukraine and Latvia (2008)
  • South America: Argentina, Brazil (1999), Chile (2008)
  • Mediterranean:  Morocco (2001), Tunisia (2003)
  • Asia: China (2004), Hong Kong (2006)
