GEFCO, a socially-responsible employer

GEFCO provides career support for its personnel

Customer focus, a results-oriented culture, team spirit and an international outlook are the values that drive the teams at GEFCO.

Every day, the 9,400 women and men in the group invest their passion for excellence in satisfying industrial customers around the world.

75 nationalities are represented at GEFCO, actively promoting diversity and multiculturalism across the group.

9,400 employees, 75 nationalities

  • Western Europe: 7,155 employees
  • Central and Eastern Europe: 1,315 employees
  • South America: 814 employees
  • Asia: 103 employees

Socially-responsible performance and action are the cornerstones of GEFCO’s development. In every country where the group operates, GEFCO sets down a “Global Framework Agreement on Corporate Social Responsibility”. In three years, this worldwide agreement has been deployed at 20 subsidiaries in the group, leading to 160 action plans focusing on the following commitments:

  • Non-complicity in human rights violations
  • Safety, working conditions and health
  • Skills development through continuous training

International growth, motivated teams

To underpin its growth on a global scale, GEFCO values the international outlook of its teams very highly. In the countries where it has operations, the group's recruitment policy targets local people with international profiles.

A strategic issue for the group, international mobility stands out as a unique opportunity for employees and is key for developing an operational global culture.

Skills development

To capitalise more on the company’s bank of knowledge and know-how, GEFCO identified the key skills that it is important to develop. Consequently, it founded GEFCO Campus, the group’s internal university, a forum for managers, working in close relationship with schools and universities that breed the talents of the future, including Ecole Centrale in Paris, Oviedo University in Spain, Bocconi University in Milan and the Higher School of Logistics in Poznan, Poland.

What’s more, the group’s international outlook prompted its managers to create a common foundation for a management culture. This is the objective of the corporate training programme “The GEFCO Manager”. This worldwide system concerns any employee with a management role or who leads cross-divisional projects. Since its launch in 2003, 11,976 employees in 20 countries have taken advantage of the training. The topics covered include participative management, working in a network and team management. A constantly evolving programme, new modules are regularly added to meet the group's strategic directions.
